Manufactured in a standard bulk CMOS technology, the AM8801 achieves and in several cases exceeds the performance of competing solutions used in GSM/GPRS mobile handsets today. The AM8801 power amplifier supports four bands: 850MHz, 900MHz, 1800MHz and 1900MHz. It has integrated 50Ω input and output matching with DC blocking and harmonic filtering which eliminates the need for external components. Advanced digital power control provides stable, controlled and repeatable output power over all operating conditions while simplifying calibration. Patented AdaptiveRF™ architecture enables AM8801 to achieve high efficiency and therefore longer talk times in mobile handsets by intelligently adapting to a lower power mode while maintaining the same level of output power. A highly robust and reliable product, the AM8801 provides over 2000V ESD protection (HBM) on all pins including the RF pins. It can withstand load mismatches of greater than VSWR 20:1.
