| Description: | Milan is an OC-192c SONET framer with an integrated 802.17 RPR MAC, with full support for POS, GFP, and ATM formats. The RPR MAC is fully-compliant with 802.17, and offers all the advantages of RPR, including spatial reuse, 50ms restoration time, service class guarantees, and fairness calculations. It provides direct line-side interfaces to all popular 10Gbps optical modules, including the 300-pin MSA, XENPAK, X2, and XFP. Milan and Cortina's Palermo are the first devices in the industry to integrate an XFP serdes into a large digital ASIC, and they exceed all SONET jitter and eye specifications. Targeted at bringing RPR support to routing platforms, Milan is the industry's leading solution at 10 Gbps. |
