Sam Altman, CEO & Co-founder
Sam founded Loopt to improve the way friends communicate. His primary responsibility within Loopt is driving the product vision, assembling a passionate team to realize that vision and making sure people have fun while they're at it.
Sam studied computer science at Stanford University, focusing on security and machine learning. He also helped build an autonomous helicopter navigation system while in school.
Nick Sivo, CTO & Co-founder
Nick's primary role within Loopt is developing secure, safe, and reliable software and platforms. His concern for user safety motivate security and safety features that ensure Loopt remains as safe as possible. A strong advocate for user privacy, Nick ensures that user data is purged as soon as it is no longer needed and that it is protected from prying eyes, including those of Loopt's employees.
Before Loopt, he has worked on network, firewall, and server management at various companies. He's also done machine learning research in the Stanford University AI Lab.
Nick is currently on leave from Stanford University, where he studied computer science, focusing on computer and network security and machine learning
Brian Marciniak, VP of Business Development
Brian Marciniak comes to Loopt building on over 18 years of experience in the wireless industry. In his role as VP of Business Development, he is responsible for facilitating and managing Loopt's relationships with wireless carriers worldwide.
Previously VP of Sales, Americas at Visto Corp., the leading provider of secure push email. Marciniak grew Visto to the number one position of carrier branded email solutions in North America.
Prior to Visto, Brian was VP of Sales, Americas for LogicaCMG. In that role, he led a rebuilding and turnaround of the Americas sales team. Before joining LogicaCMG, Marciniak served as VP of Sales, Americas for Glenayre Technologies for 12 years. He built the sales and delivery teams to grow revenues from $5 million to $120 million annually over an eight year period. He has also served in successful sales management positions with TIE Communications and Honeywell, Inc.
Brian Knapp, VP of Corporate Affairs
Brian oversees Loopt's privacy matters, regulatory and policy efforts, corporate development, and legal affairs.
He was previously an associate with Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati with a focus on intellectual property technology transactions. Prior to law school, Brian held senior positions in business development and marketing with such companies as Dun & Bradstreet, Barnes & Noble.com, and AllBusiness.com. Brian has a Bachelor of Arts, Business Administration, from the College of William & Mary and a Juris Doctor, cum laude, from the University of San Francisco School of Law
Steve Lemon, VP of Engineering
Steve Lemon has spent the past 20 years in the computer software and internet industry. As VP of Engineering at Loopt, he is responsible for the development of products and technology.
Most recently, Steve was Co-Founder and Vice President of Technology at Glimpse.com (now part of TheFind.com). Previously, Steve served as the Vice President of Engineering for Consumer Products and Solutions at Symantec. He was responsible for managing a large engineering organization and overseeing development of Symantec’s $1.5 billion Consumer Product Line. Prior to that, Steve headed the Engineering team at Cendura and grew development and QA teams in both U.S. and India. No stranger to new and successful technology companies, he was the Senior Vice President and General Manager of the Internet Portal Division for Healtheon/WebMD, where he drove M&A technology integration and operated worldwide engineering and business teams. Steve began his career in the 1980s at Xerox and Apple in operating systems design and development on platforms such as the revolutionary Xerox Star Workstation. He holds three U.S. patents in the area of Object Oriented Operating System Technology. Steve holds a BS in Computer Science from The Ohio State University.

Patrick Chung
Patrick joined NEA in 2004 and became a Partner in 2007. Patrick focuses on venture growth equity, consumer, Internet, and mobile investments. He is a director of Loopt and Realtime Worlds, and is actively involved with 23andMe, Xoom and the firm's venture growth activities. Prior to joining NEA, Patrick helped to grow ZEFER, an Internet services firm (acquired by NEC) to more than $100 million in annual revenues and more than 700 people across six global offices. Prior to ZEFER, Patrick was with McKinsey & Company, where he specialized in hardware, software, and services companies. Patrick received a joint JD-MBA degree from Harvard Law School and Harvard Business School. Patrick earned his A.B. degree at Harvard University in Environmental Science. He is a member of the New York and Massachusetts bars.
Mike Ramsay (TiVo Founder)
Mike Ramsay was the co-founder and CEO of TiVo. Prior to that Mike was Senior Vice President of the Silicon Desktop Group for Silicon Graphics Inc. There he was responsible for engineering, marketing and business development for all desktop products, with P/L responsibility for approximately half the company's revenue. Prior to joining this group, Mike was President of Silicon Studio, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Silicon Graphics focused. Prior to joining Silicon Graphics, Mike held R&D and engineering management positions at Hewlett-Packard and Convergent Technologies. He earned a first-class B.S.E.E. from the University of Edinburgh, Scotland.
Greg McAdoo
Greg McAdoo focuses on semiconductor and systems investments. Prior to joining Sequoia Capital in 2000, Greg was President and CEO of Sentient Networks (CSCO). Previously, Greg held senior engineering and executive level management positions at Cisco Systems, Sourcecom, Micom Communications and Datability Systems.

Michael Ramsay
Mike joined NEA in 2007 as a Venture Partner focusing on NEA’s expanding consumer investing activities. Mike co-founded TiVo in 1997 and served as CEO and Chairman until 2005. Prior to starting TiVo, Mike was Senior Vice President of the Silicon Desktop Group for Silicon Graphics (SGI). He had previously been President of Silicon Studio, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Silicon Graphics focused on enabling applications development for merging interactive digital media markets. Prior to SGI, Mike held R&D and engineering management positions at Hewlett-Packard and Convergent Technologies and earned a first-class B.S.E.E. from the University of Edinburgh, Scotland.
