Jim Smith, VP Operations

Jim Smith leads investments in software and systems companies, and is active in extending MDV's relationships with leading universities and research centers.

Prior to MDV, Jim spent six years developing computing architectures and integrated circuits for high performance multimedia systems at Silicon Graphics, Inc., including the multi-billion dollar revenue O2 and Octane workstation lines. He has authored and refereed numerous papers on computing systems and circuit design. He also spent three years as a researcher in the Computer Systems Laboratory at Stanford University.

Jim serves as a member of the advisory boards for TiE, the MIT Club of Northern California (MITCNC) and UC-Berkeley's VERTEX Program.

Jim received a doctorate in electrical engineering and a master's degree in industrial management from Stanford University. He also earned a bachelor's degree in computer systems engineering and a master's degree in electrical engineering from Stanford.

Goldfield as the company’s new president and chief executive officer. Joining TriNet at a critical stage in which the company’s growth is accelerating, Goldfield will lead the effort to take TriNet to the next level as a strategic national leader in the Professional Employer Organization (PEO) industry. Martin Babinec, who has served as TriNet’s President and CEO since founding the company 20 years ago, will continue on as Chairman.

With more than 25 years experience in increasingly high profile executive-level sales, operations, and technology management positions, Goldfield is an accomplished, energetic and goal-driven leader who is known for his extensive expertise at successfully growing emerging businesses into large-scale, highly successful corporations. Goldfield joins TriNet from Santa Clara-based Ketera Technologies, Inc., a leading provider of on-demand Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) spend management solutions to Fortune 2000 companies, where he was CEO.

(August 1, 2006) – TriNet, a nationwide provider of human resource (HR) outsourcing services for small and mid-sized companies, today announced that Jack Midgley, Ph.D. has joined the company as vice president of Human Capital Management (HCM) services. In his new role, Dr. Midgley will build and grow TriNet’s consulting services, focusing on issues faced by chief executives and their leadership teams as they build high-performing organizations.

Prior to joining TriNet, Dr. Midgley served as US Managing Partner for Roland Berger Strategy Consultants, where he led strategic advisory services to global clients. Earlier, Jack was a partner in Ernst & Young’s San Francisco office, where he helped establish the firm’s Asia-Pacific Global Client Consulting group and led consulting projects in the US, Korea, the People’s Republic of China, and the Philippines.

Dr. Midgley graduated with honors from West Point, earned a Master's degree in public policy at Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government, and a Ph.D. in political science from MIT. An award-winning educator, Dr. Midgley was Associate Professor of Political Science at West Point and taught management and leadership at Carnegie-Mellon University.

Since joining TriNet in 1999, Triantos has played an integral role in developing TriNet’s sales strategy, including building its national offering, hiring its top performers, and enhancing year-over-year sales productivity. Triantos has also played a key role in TriNet’s marketing and channel strategy, helping drive its push into venture capital and other financial industries, and preparing the entire organization for large-scale expansion in the medium-sized market.

Prior to Maxim Group, Triantos held sales management positions at Gincig & Associates, a Financial Service firm based in Southern California.

Prior to joining TriNet, Mr. Morton served as vice president for AchieveGlobal, Inc., an international provider of sales, leadership, and customer service training for Fortune 500 companies, where he directed sales and operational activities for the western U.S. Earlier in his career he worked for Administaff as the vice president of marketing, where he oversaw corporate branding, public relations, communications management and lead generation; he was also instrumental in implementing two of the company’s most successful market launches.

Anthony Martin

Anthony V. Martin has served as a TriNet Director since July, 1995. From August 2000 until his retirement in February 2004, Mr. Martin served as Chairman and CEO of the Board of Management of Vedior N.V, the world's third largest staffing services group. Prior to assuming the role of Chairman, Mr. Martin served as Vice Chairman and Board of Management member since 1999. In 1992, Mr. Martin became Chairman and CEO of Select Appointments (Holdings) Limited, which became the largest international specialist staffing group and was listed on the London and NASDAQ Stock Exchanges until its acquisition by Vedior in 1999.

Prior to his appointment at Select, Mr. Martin was responsible for half the operations of Adia S.A, the world's second largest staffing services group at that time and now part of Adecco. Before joining Adia, he resided in the United States for a period of 20 years and served as President and Chief Operating Officer of a state-wide financial services group based in California.

Mr. Martin holds a certificate of education from the combined boards of Oxford and Cambridge Universities, and a postgraduate degree from the University of Southern California, Los Angeles.

Jim Madden

Jim Madden has served as a TriNet Director since 2005. He is a General Partner with Accretive LLC and was previously a Special Advisor to General Atlantic, LLC. Prior to his roles in private equity, Mr. Madden was the Founder, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Exult, Inc., the innovator and market leader in human resources business processing for Global 500 corporations.

In just five years, Exult, became the most widely recognized HR processing company in the world growing from zero to $500 million in revenue with over 2,000 employees. Mr. Madden successfully took Exult public in June 2000. Exult has provided services for more than 600,000 employees with $20 billion in annual employee payments. Prior to Exult, Mr. Madden served in a variety of technology services leadership positions, including Systemhouse and MCI, as well as consulting positions with Booz-Allen & Hamilton and Andersen Consulting (now Accenture).

In addition to TriNet, Mr. Madden serves on the Board of Directors for Genpact, a global BPO firm, and ServiceSource, the innovator and leader of outsourced maintenance sales. He is also Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Hoag Hospital Foundation, which serves as the fund-raising arm of Hoag Memorial Hospital Presbyterian. Mr. Madden is a member of the Hoag Strategic Planning Committee as well as a member of the Young President’s Organization (YPO).

David Hodgson

David C. Hodgson has served as a TriNet Director since 2005. He is a Managing Director of General Atlantic LLC, a global private equity firm with more than $18 billion under management. He joined General Atlantic in 1982, helped found their partnership, and has over 20 years of experience identifying and assisting portfolio companies worldwide in all areas of their development. Mr. Hodgson serves as a director for a number of other public and private information technology companies including Dice Inc., InsightExpress, ipValue, Northgate Information Solutions plc, and Xchanging NV.

Mr. Hodgson is chair of the board of the Echoing Green Foundation, a provider of fellowship support for not-for-profit entrepreneurs. He also serves as chair of the executive committee of the Manhattan Theatre Club and as a trustee of Johns Hopkins University and the Spence School in New York.

Mr. Hodgson graduated summa cum laude from Dartmouth College in 1978 with a degree in Mathematics and Social Sciences. He is a member of Phi Beta Kappa and received the Kemeny Prize in computing at his alma mater. In 1982, Mr. Hodgson received an MBA from the Stanford University Graduate School of Business.

H. Hazlett

H. Lynn Hazlett has served as a TriNet Director since 1998. He was a former chief executive officer and president of QRS Corporation, a NASDAQ listed leading US-based provider of supply chain management solutions to the retail industry, until his retirement in 2000. He previously managed Supply Chain Associates, an international consulting firm until 1997. Prior to that he was corporate vice president at VF Corporation, a US apparel company, from 1989 to 1994. Currently he is the owner and managing partner of RxD Citrus Ltd., a grower of citrus fruit. He is also managing partner of AMI Bayshore Developer LLC and GFB LLC, both coastal land development companies. Currently he is owner and President of Bear Two, LLC (a land development company in Bradenton Beach, FL), BBC Member Services, LLC (a property management company) and Bay Side Resorts, LLC (a resort rental company).

Dr. Hazlett holds a B.S. in industrial management from the Georgia Institute of Technology, an M.B.A. in financial management, and a D.B.A. in Economics from George Washington University.
