Celebs are dropping the word "Twitter" into their interviews. News is being broken on it. People are letting others know when they're arrested. Is Twitter worth the rumored $500M - $1B figures floated around last week during the purported sales talks to Google?

Jillian, it really depends on who is buying (if any) twitter.com - but google, microsoft I believe they have to pay €2,5B and Facebook shall pay more but they don't have the capital ;)

traffic translates to dollars - they will find a model that works or be purchased by a company that has a model that works for them

hsbequ.... traffic counts of cause but more and more quality of the traffic gets more weight in regards to the value -I think ;)

hmmm... lots of traffic but monetisation really have to come in fast. But twitter have so much potential and it's growing so fast. Will it be a fad? I don't think so. It's so simple and superb idea. That's the core to all great business. Keep it simple. =)
