In 2002, after several years of intensive research and development to create the perfect automated store, Gower Smith, a serial entrepreneur, founded ZoomSystems. And, it was only two short years later, in 2004, that ZoomSystems partnered with the world market leader in automated delivery hardware and invested heavily to develop the proprietary and patented software that operates each ZoomShop.
In October 2006, ZoomSystems closed $35 million in a Series D financing round from Sierra Ventures, NeoCarta Ventures, Motorola Ventures and Goldman, Sachs & Co. In the same month, ZoomSystems entered into an agreement with Federated Department Stores to test more than 100 ZoomShops within retail giant Macy’s.
Today, ZoomShops are open in over 650 locations across the U.S., as ZoomSystems’ market expansion continues.«Less
